We were please to select Liberty Mutual Insurance as the 2022 recipient of the Fidelity Law Association Diversity and Inclusion Award for their continued commitment to promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) skills and awareness across each part of their organization.

Liberty Mutual Insurance established the Global office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in 2013. Since then, they have developed several initiatives to advance DEI efforts, including the implementation of the Guidelines for Inclusion, which are nine practices that have been rolled out across the company to increase inclusive communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. As part of this initiative, they also created an Inclusion in Action eLearning series for employees to learn how to effectively use these inclusive communication skills and connect with each other in an authentic and honest way. In addition to this series and other programs and initiatives, Liberty Mutual employees take an Unconscious Bias Awareness eLearning course to help them identify and understand unconscious biases and how to disrupt them. Along with providing training and resources for current employees, Liberty Mutual has also incorporated DEI into goal setting and recruitment practices. They’ve established goals to increase representation of women and people of color at all levels in the U.S. by 2025. Additionally, every manager across the globe has an annual performance goal to take action to strengthen their DEI skills and foster an inclusive and equitable workplace. Liberty Mutual also has seven Employee Resource Groups that support people of all backgrounds across race, ethnicity, gender, LGBTQ+, military status, and disabilities. In addition to contributing to workplace inclusivity, these groups provide ongoing support and personal development opportunities for their members, and Liberty Mutual encourages all employees to become allies and learn more about the groups they may be less familiar with.
